We are Steve (the Captain, Mr. Fix-it, and Mr. Calm and collective) and Ashlie (the Admiral, babysitter, maid, decorator, and planner). Man, my husbands titles seem way cooler than mine, but they are definitely on-point.
I’m a full-time mom and part-time Speech Pathologist. My husband is an airline pilot. So with our schedules always changing, we have to be flexible and last-minute travelers. We have 2 children, Big sis (5) and Little bro (14 mths) who we lovingly call our little monster. We live in North Carolina. We have always owned boats, living the lake life on days off. Then some time a few years ago, we got an itch to buy a larger boat (1996 31’ Mainship) that we thought would be fun to travel the coast for a few months, then we’d ship it back to the lake nearby. Well… after only a year of cruising the East Coast from Charleston, SC up to Wilmington, NC we had the cruising bug. We couldn’t get enough of this lifestyle!! At this point I was pregnant with baby #2 and our 2 cabin boat was already starting to look cramped. After selling our Mainship we bought an older, but bigger, 1986 47’ Marine Trader. This was after traveling across the US to look at 3-4 boats before her. She was on the West Coast of FL and we fell in love. She was newly painted, well maintained, and turn key (as far as a boat from the 80’s can be). We’ve been commuting ever since and trying to move her little by little to get her closer up the coast, where travel is less cumbersome.
